Chapter 2.34.070 Chief of police--Reassignment.

    If a member of the police department is appointed to the office of chief of police, prior to being eligible to retire on pension, he shall be considered on furlough from the rank he held immediately prior to his appointment to the office of chief of police, without regard to duration in rank before appointment to the office of chief of police; and should he resign as chief of police, or be discharged prior to attaining eligibility to retire on pension, he shall revest to and be established in such prior rank, and thereafter be entitled to all the benefits and emoluments of such prior rank, without regard to whether a vacancy then exists in such rank.
