Proper and adequate insurance coverage shall be carried upon the fire-fighting apparatus and equipment, upon any jointly owned apparatus and equipment, and upon the employees of the fire department, and on the firemen, including chauffeurs, drivers and their helpers, so far as the interests of the city or of the district may be concerned.
