Chapter 2.46.090 Chief of police and assistant chief.

The chief of police shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the city council and may be removed or discharged by the mayor and the city council in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 2.22 and in accordance with Section 10-2.1-4 of the Act. The assistant chief of police shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the city council and may be removed or discharged by the mayor and city council as provided in Chapter 2.24. All other full- time police officers shall be appointed, promoted, removed or discharged in the manner provided in Division 2.1 of Article 10 of the Illinois Municipal Code.
