Section 2.68 PERSONNEL CODE
Chapter 2.68.320 Holidays.
A. City-Observed Holidays. Each full-time
employee shall receive the following holidays
off, with compensation for eight hours at their regular rates of pay, except for the half day on
Christmas Eve for which each employee shall receive four hours:
New Year s Day;
Lincoln s Birthday;
Good Friday;
Memorial Day;
Independence Day;
Labor Day;
Veterans Day;
Thanksgiving Day;
Christmas Day;
Christmas Eve, half day;
Personal Leave Day.
Holidays which fall on an employee s regularly scheduled
day off may be taken at another
time subject to the department head s approval.
The general policy shall be to celebrate a given holiday
on Friday or Monday for holidays
falling on a Saturday or Sunday, respectively.
B. Holiday Pay Administration. An
employee who is assigned to work on an observed
holiday shall be compensated at time and one-half their regular rate of pay for hours worked.
Holidays occurring during sick leave will not be counted
as sick leave days. (Ord. 1121 § 1
