Section 2.68 PERSONNEL CODE
Chapter 2.68.460 False arrest and civil liability insurance.
An insurance committee working with the chief of police,
the ambulance director, and the city
attorney shall be established for the purpose of obtaining adequate insurance to protect the city
and members of the Columbia ambulance service and police department from civil suits
stemming from actions taken by members of the Columbia ambulance service and police
department while on duty.
The city shall provide insurance coverage, not to exceed
one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) in
coverage on behalf of each E.M.T. or policeman, which the E.M.T. or the policeman shall
become legally obligated to pay as damages because of bodily injury or property damage caused
by an occurrence, if and only if the city also becomes legally obligated to pay the damages under
